The word 'common' is used when we compare two or more elements to see similarities or when something is equally shared by two or more things.
Let us consider an example:
What is common between a lion and a tiger?
1 - Both are wild animals
2 - Both are mammals
3 - Both are flesh eating animals
But we can't ask for similarities for a lion to itself.
So, we need at least two things to compare. We can't compare an element to itself to find similarities.
So we can't find common factors of one number.
Since 12 is a factor of 36, all of the factors of 12 are common to 36.
Common factors of 36 and 54 are: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, and 18.
The prime factors of 24 are 2,2,2 and 3 The prime factors of 36 are 2,2,3 and 3 Thus the common factors are 1,2,3,4,6 and 12.
1, 2, and 4
1 2 4
The common factors of 18 and 36 are 18,9,6,3,2,1.
Since 12 is a factor of 36, all of the factors of 12 are common to 36.
Since 9 is a factor of 36, all of its factors are common.
Since 18 is a factor of 36, all the factors of 18 will be common to 36. 1,2,3,6,9,18
Common factors of 36 and 40 are: 1, 2, and 4.
Since 36 is a factor of 72, all of the factors of 36 are common to 72.
The common factors are: 1, 2, 4
1,2,3,4,6,12 are all common factors of 12 and 36.
Common factors of 36 and 48 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12.
Common factors of 36 and 54 are: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, and 18.
The common factors for 612 and 36 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, 36.
The prime factors of 24 are 2,2,2 and 3 The prime factors of 36 are 2,2,3 and 3 Thus the common factors are 1,2,3,4,6 and 12.
