The two main forms of statistics are qualitative (descriptive) statistics and quantitative (inferential or inductive) statistics.
They are called functions. Excel has a specific category or functions used to calculate statistics.
Descriptive statistics is the branch of statistics concerned with the collection, organization, summation and presentation of data.
Statistics as a science can be divided into two main classes, namely, statistical methods and applied statistics.

descriptive and inferential
Usually if you add a question to the subcategory of a main category, it automatically removes itself from the main category. You don't *have* to remove questions from main categories if you add them to a subcategory, but doing so would make the site a little more organised and less cluttered.
Statistics on nationwide data (the FBI's UCR) are not broken down by this category.
