Rulers go up in mm, cm or inches. You can also get metre sticks that go up to 1 metre. You measure length by putting the 0 mark on the line and then where your line ends is how long the line/shape side is. If you want to measure say the length of a room with rulers you should use steel rulers which start at the end.
A foot is 12" An inch can be divided into smaller parts or fractions. Most tapes/rulers have 1/32 as the smallest mark (or each inch divided into 32 equal parts)from there-1/16, 3/32.1/8,5/32, 3/16, 7/32,1/8,9/32,1/4 etc
Most even marks like eights, sixteenths, quarters, halves and inches are prominent. To get to know them get a tape measure
find 1/16 and count out 16 to 1 inch to see where they are
do the same with eighths (count 8) and quarters (count 4)
Just use smaller fraction if there is one. For instance 2 quarters is 1/2-so you use 1/2. 2/16's is 1/8-so you use 1/8. In between the even increments, use 32's. Once you know the increments in 1 inch, you can measure anything. For length a tape is used which simply tells you how long something is in inches, For example 6' ll 3/4" -six feet, eleven and three quarter inches. Rulers are standard at one foot but same applies.

As ACR tubing appears to be copper pipes, a tape measurer can be used to measure the length of tubing. A ruler can be used to measure the width and the bore of the pipes. If still not sure, take a small length of pipe to the supplier.
Some of the standard instruments used to measure length are a ruler, meter scale, measuring tape, vernier caliper, and screw gauge. To measure very long lengths like the length of a road we use measuring tape
there are many instruments used to measure length depending upon the size of object , Ruler is Metric instrument used to measure length. Screw gauge is also used as an instrument used to measure length in mm.

That depend on how long the ruler is. The 2 rulers in my desk drawer have 200 and 300 milimeters markings respectively. I also have a triangle with 195 millimeter markings on one side. I just looked in another drawer and found a ruler with 400 mm markinga and a folding carpenter's rule with 2000 markings.
the ruler was used to measure the length of my book.
A ruler is used to measure length or distance, while a balance is used to measure weight or mass.
A ruler or a metric tape measure is commonly used to measure length in the metric system. These instruments typically have units of centimeters or millimeters for more precise measurements.
Jim used his ruler to measure the length of his finger. Bob is the ruler of the world.
A measuring tape or ruler is commonly used to measure length or distance. These devices have accurate markings or indicators to determine the length of an object or distance between two points. Advanced tools like laser meters or GPS devices can also be used for more precise measurements over long distances.
A ruler is a straight measuring instrument with markings at intervals that is used to measure distances.
