  1. The median is when you list however numbers you have in order and then find out which one is in the middle. This works if you have an odd number of items. For example, 1,2,5,7,and 9. The number 5 is in the middle so it is the median. There are two numbers on either side of it. But if you an even number of things in your list, you need to take the middle two and average them. For example, say you have 1,2,5, and 6. The median is 2+5=7 then divide that by 2=7/2 or 3 and 1/2

2.The mean is when you add up however numbers you have. and then divide

them by however much numbers you added up.

How can determining the mean and median and range help to analyze your experimental data?

Analyzing the mean, median, and range of your experimental data helps establish patters present in the data set. Analyzing the mean will define the quantitative average, analyzing the median will find the number that is center most, and analyzing the range will find the difference between the largest and smallest number in the data set. Good luck!

What do these data sets illustrate about the resistance of the median and mean?

Data sets illustrate that the median is more resistant to outliers and extreme values than the mean. While the mean can be significantly affected by extreme data points, causing it to misrepresent the central tendency, the median remains stable as it focuses solely on the middle value of a sorted data set. This property makes the median a better measure of central tendency in skewed distributions. Thus, when analyzing data, choosing the median over the mean can provide a clearer picture of the typical value.

Are the mean median and mode always numbers from a list of data?

the median and mode are but the mean is not

What is mean and median?

mean~ all the numbers in the data added together divided by the number of data. The mean is the same as the average. median~ the exact middle of the set of data. Example: 1,1,2,2, the median is 1.5 mean- the average median- the middle number in a set of numbers in a group.Example of Median-1,3,5,7,9,4,5 (put them in order and list them from least to greatest)1,3,4,5,5,7,9the median is 5!

Does all data have a mean median or mode?

No, not all data sets have a mode but all data sets have a mean and median.

Can ypu find the mean and median with data from a histogram?

You can estimate the median and the mean.

Should The mean or median be used in ordinal data?

The median is used when reporting ordinal data.

When is the mean not a valid statistic to describe a set of data?

The population data may be skewed and thus the mean is not a valid statistic. If mean > median, the data will be skewed to the right. If median > mean, the data is skewed to the left.

What do mean by Data Handling?

What is the median of 15 min57sec and16min1sec?

The median of an even number of data points is the mean of the two that are central. Since you gave only 2 data points, the median is going to be the mean of the two data points, so 15'59" ■
