1) A Decimal (.)

2) An Exponent (2)

3) An Operation ( +, -, x, /)

4) A negative or positive sign ( +, -)

5) A constant, base or number. ( Meaning the first number) Ex. (2.56)x103

(The part in the parenthesis is the constant, base or number)

P.S The parenthesis are only used for my example to show where the constant was, they aren't necessary.

a is called the mantissa and b is called the exponent.
