  • school leavers who are judged to be numerate and scientifically informed -in whatever waythese are defined!
  • number of maths and science graduates (are degrees equivalent?),
  • numbers of research papers published in peer reviewed journals,
  • numbers of citations,
  • number of Nobel prize winners or Fields medal winners.
In each case, you need to decide whether or not it is appropriate to adjust for the size of the country.
