Capacity is not related to any specific measurement. it only means how much of the "thing" can the system cope with. Some common capacities are:

  • Area - age surface space for stacking things on, losing heat from etc. It is measured in acres, square feet or inches, hectares, square mikes or kilometres
  • Electrical capacity which measured in amps, volts and ohms
  • Volume measured in cubic feet/yeards, cubic centimetres/metres/kilometers or quarts/galloms, litres or steres
  • Heat measured in ergs per unit volume or mass, calories per gram,BTU per pound
  • Pressure in psi, pascals, atmospheres
  • Rooms in the number of people they can hold
  • Roads on the maximum traffic rates
