AnswerNone, if you're lucky. It makes the job search easier, however, if you have something to put on a resume. Also be very good in math so you know how much of an ingredient you need to make a recipe and end up with a huge mess.
If you aspire to become an Executive Chef at a country club, private club, hotel chain, etc. you are going to need at least a Bachelor's Degree and certification. (C.E.C. - Certified Executive Chef).

Many Chefs in that arena are C.M.C - Certified Master Chef

The salary potential is greater as well.

The American Culinary Federation explains the certification levels at:

At the very least, a successful Chef needs math skills, personnel management skills, food safety certification, and extensive experience with international cuisines.

A working apprenticeship, or local trade school associate's degree is a viable alternative.
