You work it out on paper or just use a calculator
Any +++ Strictly speaking, it is ADD. The word 'sum' is used colloquially for any simple arithmetical calculation, but in mathematics a 'sum' is properly the result of adding two or more numbers.
To find the sum of integers, you use addition. To find the difference, you use subtraction.
You can use the formula for the sum of an arithmetic series to calculate that quickly. (Of course, you can also type the numbers into Excel, and get the sum - but that doesn't scale well - e.g., it won't work well if you are then asked, for instance, to get the sum of the first million even numbers.)

The sum of the numbers in each row of Pascal's triangle is twice the sum of the previous row. Perhaps you can work it out from there. (Basically, you should use powers of 2.)

Sorry, use what?"Addends" are what you add together to get a sum.
Any time you have a large amount of numbers to add together, you could use the SUM function. There are so many situations that it could be used, that it would be impossible to list them all.
If you use Excel in school, then, yes, you can use the SUM function.

A triangle has no sum. There can be a sum of the measures of two or more angles, or the lengths of two or more sides, for example.
The SUM function.
