What does Average in math mean?

If my mind serves me right average means you add up all the numbers in the group and divide them by the amount of number in the group.

For example lets say i am your teacher and its time to give you your weekly average to let you know where you grade stands:

So i add up all your grades tests, quizzes study guides, and homework.

86+78+67+100+99+75+60+89= 654

now divide 654 by how many numbers are which is 8

So

654/8 = 81.54

So your grade would be ( B-)
