It depends what you do with the two numbers.

-- If you just leave them sitting there, then they don't change. The negative one

remains negative, and the positive one remains positive.

-- If you multiply or divide either one by the other one, the result is negative.

-- If you add either one to the other, or subtract either one from the other, then

the result can be either positive or negative, depending on the relative sizes of

the original two numbers.
