Calculating the average of a set of data is the same as calculating the mean, or the value that is in the middle of the data. For example, if you were given the numbers 3, 7, 10, 4, and 5, and was asked to find the average, this is how it would be done:
First, add up all the numbers. 3 + 7 + 10 + 4 + 5 = 29
Then, divide the added numbers by how many numbers there are, total, which is 5. 29/5 = 5.8
The average of 3, 4, 5, 7, and 10, is 5.8.
The mean average deviation is the same as the mean deviation (or the average deviation) and they are, by definition, 0.
