What does compare in math mean?

Determining between 2 numbers which is greater, smaller, or equal.

Example:
Compare 4 and 9.

answers:
9>4 (9 is greater than 4)
4<9 (4 is less than 9)

Example:
Compare .75 and 3/4

.75 = 3/4 (.75 and 3/4 are the same exact answer. .74 in fraction form is 3/4 and 3/4 in decimal form is .75)

- Look at one.

- Then look at the other.

- Then look back and forth a few more times.

- Figure out what's the same about both.

- Figure out what's different about them.
