There is not a mean of a single number. To calculate a mean, you need a data set. The mean is given by the sum of all the data, divided by the number of pieces of data.
Data is collected and collated for statistical purposes in maths
Data that can be expressed by numbers, for example 35% or 0.23 or a quarter. The opposite is qualitive data and this would be opinions.
It is a special way of plotting data in statistics. See link for more.
In mathematics, the range is the difference between the highest and lowest numbers in a set of data.

add up all the numbers you have then divide by the amount of numbers you haveThe mean is the same as the average. You must add up all the data, then divide by the number of data entries you added. E.g. 3+5+2+6+4=20 then 20 divided by 5 = 4, so in this case 4 is the mean.

The mean of a set of data is also known as the average. To get the average, add all the numbers in a data set up, then take away the number of numbers. eg. data set = 5,6,7,6,6,4,4,3,4,5,4,6. Added = 60 Number of numbers = 12 60/12 = 5 = Average
The three central tendencies are mean, median and mode. Sometimes mid-range is used. Mean, arithmetic mean, add all the data and divided by the number of pieces of data. Median is the middle number when all the data is arranged in order. The average of the two middle pieces of data is you have an even number of data. Mode is the data that appears the most. Mid-range is the average of the least and greatest pieces of data.
