The Pentagon is the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense. Ground was broken for construction, coincidentally, on September 11th, 1941. It is either the largest or one of the largest office buildings in the world, housing approximately 89,000 military and civilian employees and roughly 3,000 non-defense support personnel. The building alone has six zip codes, one for secretary of defense, one for the joint chiefs of staff and one for each, the army, navy, air force, and marine corp. What does it DO, you ask? I don't think anyone who doesn't work there really knows. However, I would imagine it controls military expenses and holds a lot of top secret information...
