It is a thin membrane stretched across the vaginal opening. There should be a small opening in it to allow the passage of menstrual blood.
I compare my hymen to a pink flower. It looks like it has tiny petals (5) and it covers my vaginal opening.
The hymen is tissue (skin in this case), it may slightly cover the vaginal opening or almost completely cover the vaginal opening, and some girls (20%) are born without a hymen or may tear the tissue in early childhood; so don't be alarmed if you don't feel that you have one!
Lack of a hymen does not mean a girl has been sexually active! You are a virgin until first intercourse - hymen or none.

Alum can be used to tighten vaginal walls (the internal vaginal canal). There are products on the market specifically for this. Therefore, in theory, alum could be used to shrink the outer labia (lips) of the vagina. However, this "virginal muscle" assuming you mean the hymen, is something of a misnomer. Prior to sexual intercourse, some females have a hymen in place, some don't. The hymen is very fragile. It can be lost painlessly, especially if tampons are used during menstruation, or if the female has an active lifestyle, or participates in sport. The absence of a hymen at the vaginal entrance, is not an indicator of lost virginity. Bringing God into what may be an already tense, anxious situation, helps nobody.

The hymen is tissue that surrounds the vaginal opening, it is different for everyone. Typically it will look like a crescent of tissue around the bottom/back of the vaginal opening, but in some people it may cover more of the vaginal opening.

It's not really artificial since they use your own tissue. It will look like a normal one and no one can tell the difference.
The hymen cannot break, it can be torn as a result of rough or forced penetration. You can identify a torn hymen by looking at the hymen, if you know your body well you will be able to see the tear.
Simple: LOOK!The hymen is tissue that surrounds the opening to the vagina, the hymen doesn't just vanish into thin air so if you had a hymen then it will still be there even if it isn't in tact any more. If unsure what to look for then there are plenty of sexual health books and web sites to show you.
The hymen has no purpose once you are born. In the womb the vaginal canal is supposed to be closed and that is why the hymen was there. The closer you get to birth the more it disappears and many are born without one.The hymen has no known function like many things in the human body such as the appendix.
Hymen is a thin membrane that surrounds the opening to vagina. Hymen could be in different shapes. The most common Hymen is shaped like a half moon. This shape allows menstrual blood to flow out of a girl's vagina. You can see pictures of different types of hymen in recommended related link below.
You need to look at yourself with a small mirror. Lay down with your back slightly proped up. Pull your outer labia apart to reveal your hymen
There is no such thing as an unvirgin hymen the hymen is broken during intercourse.
There is no such thing as popping the cherry. You bleed because you are a virgin. I have asked my doctor this question because a lot of girls at school were curious. If you have intercourse your hymen is broken, though you may not bleed because it broke earlier if you rode a bike, rode a horse, did gymnastics and lots of other things.
A boy does not have a hymen. The hymen is a thin membrane that may partially cover the opening of the vagina in some females.
There are no exercises to break the hymen. The hymen cannot be broken but can be torn if penetration is rough or forced, simply exercising is not going to tear the hymen.
