That depends entirely on the viscosity of the liquid in the pipe ! Water would flow faster than oil !
80w90 oil
the front diff is part of the gearbox and the diff/gearbox oil is the same-there is a dipstick on the offside of the box near the bellhousing.
get a half inch driver socket wrench, locate the drain plug on the diff. drain plug will be close to the bottom of diff or if there is no drain bolt you must remove entire diff cover, probably 10 bolts. drain, replace gasket or make new one with RTV torque bolts to "gut-n-tight" German standards and fill with new oil at fill plug(upper part of diff cover). recycle oil then take a shower because you probably got some nasty smelling 80-90w on your skin. Done.
The Diff oil ir either needing changed or topped up, if its a whining noise that is.
Rear diff, 7.9 pints.Front diff, 2.4 pints.

Petroleum oil
I'm not sure measurement wise......but................... As in most diffs....you check the gear oil by opening a large plug screw, located on the side of the diff, with a 3/8 , or a 1/2 inch ratchet driver. The gear oil should just start to spill a little bit out of the hole after you take out the plug. If it does not spill ANY oil.....THEN you are low. Just use your finger , stick it downward in the hole, and you will feel the oil level. (seriously)
