A common rule is round down from 1,2,3 and 4; round up from 5,6,7,8 and 9.

However, statistically that rule is flawed: it results in 4 downs to 5 ups and so an upward bias in rounding. To avoid that, and to retain the ability to replicate results, it is better to round down for 1,2,3 and 4; up for 6,7,8 and 9 and for 5 round down or up so as to make the last digit even.
