How I arrived at my answer:

When adding or subtracting fractions, you have to make sure that the denominators are the same. In this case, by multiplying 1/4 by 2, we will have matching denominators.

(1/4)*2 = (1*2) / (4*2) = 2/8

Now that the denominators are the same, we can add the two fractions together:
