5 Seconds of Summer (also sometimes known as 5SOS or 5sauce) is an Australian band that consists of 4 members, Luke Hemmings (17), Michael Clifford (17), Calum Hood (17), and Ashton Irwin (19). These 4 boys got their fame from One Direction's Louis Tomlinson after he found a video that the band posted onto YouTube of them singing, and got the 4 boys to be the official opening act for One Direction's Take Me Home 2013 Summer Tour. 5SOS absolutely hates to be considered a "boy band" for the fact that they all play an instrument. These boys are very very amazingly talented and beautiful so please love them ok bye.

Michael Clifford, one of the members, came up with it while in a science class. There isn't a specific reason why, but they had a list of band names. They chose 5 Seconds of Summer. :) In a Youtube video, called "5 seconds of summer info !" it shows him and his band member, Luke, trying to figure out a name.

They dont really have a name to call their fans. Something that the fans have named themselves and what they (5 seconds of summer) just went along with was "5sos fam".
