Three classes in IPC A-620
Class 1 - General Electronic Products. General includes products that are suitable for applications where the primary requirement is the function of the completed assembly. Everyday consumer appliances are examples
Class 2 - Dedicated Service Electronic Products. IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 2 products require continued performance and extended life. Uninterrupted service is desired, but not critical. Class 2 products include communications equipment and other dedicated-service electronic products.
Class 3 - High Performance Electronic Products. Includes products where continued performance or performance-on-demand is critical, equipment downtime cannot be tolerated, end-use environment may be uncommonly harsh, and the equipment must function when required, such as life support systems and other critical systems.
