The Mach number for the speed of an object travelling through a particular medium is the ratio of the object's speed relative to the speed of sound through the same medium. The speed of sound through any medium depends on the nature and density of the medium and, as a result, so does the Mach number. In air, the Mach ratio is mostly dependent on temperature and humidity, less so on altitude.
Generally, Mach 1 (in air, at standard sea level conditions, and at 15 deg C) is approx 760 mph. So Mach 2.5 would be approx 1900 mph.
Mach 1 is the speed of sound. 768 miles per hr. Mach 2 is twice that & so on.
680.58 m / s
That means the speed, compared to the speed of sound. For example, "mach 2" means twice the speed of sound.
Mach velocities are all relative to the speed of sound in that gas, at that density. Mach 1 = the speed of sound. Mach 2 = twice the speed of sound. It does not have an invariant conversion into miles per minute.
Mach is not an absolute speed but a relative speed. The Mach value of an object is the ratio of the speed fo the object travelling through a medium to the speed of sound travelling through the same medium. Now sound travels faster in denser mediums so the speed of sound in [dense]air at sea level is greater than the speed of sound at high altitude. So Mach 2 in the air at sea level is faster than Mach 2 at high altitude. But Mach 2 under water is very much faster. However, most people are ignorant about the proper meaning of Mach and assume that it is simply related to the speed of sound at sea level at normal temperature/pressure/humidity - approximately 760 miles per hour. In that case Mach 8 would be 6080 mph.
Mach refers to the speed of sound, for example, mach 1, equals the speed of sound, mach 2, the speed of sound times 2. So, mach 25 would mean, 25 times the speed of sound.
Mach 2.
The mach number is the speed, compared to the speed of sound in air. Thus, mach 1 is the speed of sound, mach 2 is twice (2 times) the speed of sound, mach 3 is 3 times the speed of sound, etc.
Mach 2 = 1,322.94 knots
No Mach 2.3
If it is civil , its mach 1.- mach 2 ,name is Concorde & in defence they go beyond mach 2
There is no plural for the noun 'mach'; the different levels of mach are usually shown by a numeral for various speeds, such as mach 1 or mach 2.
mach 1 = the speed of sound mach 2 is twice the speed of sound and that's how fast Concorde could travel, well, mach 2.3
Frantisek Mach is 6' 1 1/2".
Yes. The space shuttle moved at a speed of 17,500 mph, which is roughly Mach 25.
Josef Mach was born on February 25, 1909, in Prostejov, Moravia, Austria-Hungary [now Czech Republic].

For an Exotic read "The AURORA Program" sees the stealth aircraft evidence supporting Mach 8 and beyond. It would depend on the jet itself. Each jet has a different engine (thrust production), weight, lift and drag component which all effect the top speed of fighter jets. For example the f18 hornet has a top speed of mach 1.8 (1190 kph) whilst the yet the mig 35 can get to mach 2.25(2400 kph)
