For one thing, it's an "acute triangle" because all three of its angles are acute.

But in the very special case where all three angles are 60 degrees each, the triangle's

sides are also all the same length, and that characteristic is the root of it's name.

It's called an "equilateral" triangle, even though it's also an "equiangular" triangle.
