The letters don't mean anything specific. If you are doing a maths question like 3 x (8 x 2) then you can replace the brackets with a letter and say 3 x a. A will automatically mean the number or number sentence that it replaced. D can be anything depending on the context.
D can mean anything, it's only substituting a number that you have to find out. That's how you do basic algebra
D=8 in algebra

d is part of algebra because it is a letter. Any letter in algebra is known as a variable. D is different from d in algebra. They are different.
4C times D is the same as 4CD in algebra which means 4*D*C
D can mean anything, it's only substituting a number that you have to find out. That's how you do basic algebra

Depending on your school they will go, Applied Geometry (D average or lower), Geometry ( C and above), Problem Solving A (D in geometry), Algebra 2 (C or better in Geometry), Problem solving B (D or lower in Algebra 2), Calculus AB (C or better in Algebra 2) and Calculus BC (requires AB)
usually geometry or algebra II there is another math after Algebra besides Geometry. its called Applied Geometry. the only reason to be in that class is by getting a D.
