What is Baseball gear?

Obviously there's the uniform.Yes that includes the hat! But the basic gear includes cleats, a glove(position specific!), a bat, batting gloves, and a helmet. And most important a protective cup..(this is very obvious to have) Although some advice for this is to buy a good pair of sliding shorts with a pocket for the cup as this reduces chafing and helps protect SOME skin from strawberries.(this is not always true and i don't mean the food either!!!)FYI sliding shorts are very comfortable. Now this is the simple stuff but there are other important things that are very nice to have! -If you're a catcher the gear needed for that is a mask, chest protector, shin guards, catchers mitt, and a protective cup..which is required although there is no way to check but to catch with no cup especially with intentions of blocking pitches in the dirt is quite crazy and dumb. -A sleeve or a forearm shiver to cover your throwing arm if it is cold.(just wearing long sleeves works perfect but some days it is in that middle temp. where its to warm for a long sleeve shirt but a sleeve works great, and it also compresses the elbow and can help prevent some injury) -Pine tar...mostly for wood but some brave souls ruin their $300 aluminums for xtra grip. -Sunglasses..Alot of people don't think about it but it is definitely a necessity for outfielders who look up at pop flys. They are also good for infielders and catchers depending on which way the field is facing and the sun at that time of day..(pitchers are not permitted to where sunglasses.although seeing implements such as regular glasses are okay.(oakley shades are most popular although this is only a trend and not a requirement) -Shin or elbow guards. (especially if you throw right handed and bat left handed as your throwing arm is totally exposed and vice versa) -Bat weight if you like to use this on the ondeck circle before an AB -athletic tape(and pre wrap!!!) if you have weak/injured wrists or need to cover up any strawberries. -mouth piece..most likely used by infielders due to late bad hops in the face. This seems like alot and it is which is why baseball is expensive..but i will add most if not almost all of this list is extra non-necessity items. They are nice but not required whatsoever.. Back in the day everything was simple in that all they had was a bat, ball, and glove and that's it.So bring the simple stuff and your A-game. After all, it is America's favorite pastime.
