Each point in the plane can be associated with an ordered pair of numbers, called the coordinates of the point. Also, each ordered pair of numbers can be associated with a point in the plane. Points with x-coordinate 0, lie in the y-axis; points with y-coordinate 0, lie in the x-axis; the coordinates of the origin, 0, are (0.0).
