I am not sure but when you think about one thousand you have to add one thousand thousand more to get to one million which isn't a number so you call it one million. To get to one billion I guess it uses the same method so you would add one million million which would make one billion so one billion would be: 1,000,000,000 I think... So nine billion, nine million and ninety in figures would be: 9,000,900,090.
