Bhardwaj, "Word Power Made Easy" by Norman Lewis for the English section, and "Quantitative Aptitude for Competitive Examinations" by R.S. Aggarwal for the quantitative aptitude section. It's also beneficial to practice previous years' question papers and mock tests.
You can use quantitative aptitude in every day life to figure out mathematically how many people are needed to do a specific job in the time given. For example, if my plumbing contractor usually brings 2 workers to the job site, and it takes them 7 days to completely replace the broken pipes under a home's foundation, I can use my quantitative aptitude to figure out how many more workers I need him to bring if the job absolutely must be done in four days. Another example would be figuring out how many friends to ask for help if you can paint one backdrop in 2 days, when the school play is 3 days away and requires 6 backdrops. If you're an employer, it can be very important in determining how many temp workers to hire for a special project. Good quantitative aptitude means you hire enough people to get the job done without over hiring and wasting too much money in payroll.
