Its value depends on what state is depicted, and whether it was struck in copper-nickel or silver. Also, if the coin has been removed from its original packaging and not re-sealed in some protective container, its value will be less than the numbers shown below. Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 05/2009: Copper-nickel, all states except Connecticut: about $3 Copper-nickel, Connecticut: about $7 Silver, all states except Delaware: about $13 Silver, Delaware: about $15
Crescent operated from 1893 to 1930. There doesn't seem to be any source to pinpoint dates of manufacture by serial numbers. Crescent was a subsidiary of H&D Folsom Sporting Goods, New York. Many of their products were sold through Folsom's retail outlets, but Folsom was also a large wholesale dealer and many Crescent guns were marked with the names or trademarks of other retail chains and even independent hardware stores. Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co, Chicago (1882-1962), retailed the Victor shotguns which were manufactured by Crescent Arms, Norwich, CT (1893-1930).
Connecticut can get tornadoes, but it is unlikely to see large numbers of them.
Around $100-$200, depending on the exact model, and whether it has damascus steel marrels. AMERICAN GUN CO. firearms were manufactured by Crescent Firearms Co. and distributed by H. & D. Folsom Co. Crescent produced moderate cost guns under nearly 100 different brand names. A brief history of Crescent- CRESCENT FIRE ARMS CO. & CRESCENT-DAVIS ARMS CO. Previous manufacturers and trademarks manufactured circa 1888-1931 in Norwich, CT. In 1888, George W. Cilley bought out the defunct Bacon Arms Co. of Norwich, CT. He then formed an alliance with Frank Foster, and borrowed enough money to form the Crescent Fire Arms Company. Cilley and Foster each held several firearms patents, and both were highly qualified in firearms design and manufacture. Production began with single shot tip-up shotguns that had an external side hammer. Double barrel shotgun production was started in 1891. In 1893, they began making bicycle chains, and that same year, H&D Folsom took over the company's financial control. Early in the 1890s, Crescent built a rifle that resembled the Remington No. 4. A very rare Crescent was the .410 bore shotgun pistol, which was introduced in the 1920s. In 1929, N.R. Davis Firearms Co., then owned by Warner Arms Corp., merged with Cresent to become Crescent-Davis Arms Co. Because of financial crisis, business continued to decline, and they were forced to sell out. Savage Arms Co. acquired Davis-Cresent in 1931, assembled guns from the remaining parts, and these guns were sold under the Crescent name only.
Here's a link to an American Rifleman article http://www.briley.com/grampa.html It is primarily about double barrel shotguns, but it also applies to your Victor Singleshot. It was manufactured by Crescent Arms, Norwich, CT, and retailed by H & D Folsom Sporting Goods of New York City. Serial numbers don't help much on these - no one has ever tried to determine the method Crescent used to assign them or research original records (probably none exist) - but it would have been made somewhere between 1893 and 1932.
Crescent manufactured shotguns from 1888 to 1940. They sold a million utility shotguns that were "branded" by hardware stores and the like. Typical value is $85 to $150. I'm not aware of any resource for looking up the serial numbers. Regards, Jay Gentry Shotgunworld.com Made between 1893 and 1930. With a more complete description I may be able to narrow that down a little, but cannot give a definite year of manufacture. Value will be less than $200 unless it is a like-new example of the early (pre-WWI) model. Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co, Chicago (1882-1962), retailed the Victor shotguns which were manufactured by Crescent Arms, Norwich, CT (1893-1930). Can't determine the date any closer than that, but if it has fluid steel barrels it was made sometime after 1900. Value will be in the range of $75 or less.
The Crescent Firearms Company was established in 1888, in Norwich, Connecticut, and produced huge numbers of rifles and shotguns, mainly as "house brands" (guns that were made for sale by hardware stores and other retailers under those other retailers names); they also sold guns under their own name, and the name of the Folsom Gun Company of New York. The New York Club was a single-shot target rifle offered in several calibres and sizes, and it was based on the Remington rolling-block action.
AFAIK, there is no published sn data on Crescent Arms.
Hartford Arms Company: Trade name used by the H. & D. Folsom Arms on shotguns made for the Simmons Hardware Company of St. Louis, Missouri. It was probably manufactured in Belgium (look for an oval around "ELG*" on the action) sometime between the 1880's and WWI, but could have been made in Norwich, Ct, by Crescent Arms, 1893-1920. Value will be based on condition, but is generally modest, in the $100-$150 range.

You use less numbers of trees for the same amount of manufactured boards than would have been needed for cut boards.
If it's a hammerless boxlock, it could still be a shooter worth $100 - $250. If it has large side hammers, it's a wall decoration but still worth almost as much. I have one... it belonged to my dad...he purchased it used around1918- 1920 SN 410344 stamper on the stock/receiver, barrel and the hand grip, (same numbers on all three pieces) ... Does this mean anytrhing to anyone??? Mdales Only to you. There is no serialization listing for Crescent firearms that would allow you to date its manufacturer.
VIN = Vehicle Identification Number. They can be "decoded" to determine manufacturer, when it was manufactured, specifics about the model, what facility it was manufactured at, etc.
