What is the answer to 7a equals 12a plus 10?

7a=12a+10 /-12a (from both sides)

7a-12a=10

-5a=10 /: -5 (from both sides)

a= -2

(7X-2=12X-2+10

-14= -24+10

-14=-14)

We start with the equation

7a=12a+10 ===> we want to get all the variables on one side of the equation ( which would be our "a")

So we minus 12a from both sides of the equation giving us

-5a= 10 ====> now we want a by itself so we do the opposite of multiplication which is division so we are now going to divide both sides by -5 ( remember to include your negative sign in your division)

So divide both sides by -5 which gives

a=-2
