∙ 9y agoThat depends on what the question is. If you want the area of a rectangle, you simply multiply length x width. But with a rectangular box, to know the volume for example, you need three numbers (length, width, height).

Length = Volume divided by (Width X Heigth)
area of an box is length x width.
length x width x height easy
You need the total volume as well, then divide that successively by width and length

A rectangle has only two dimensions, for example, length and width. If you multiply that, you get the area. A rectangular box has a length, width, and height. If you multiply all three, you get the volume.
The volume of a rectangular prism (a shape like box)
You can't, unless it's a cube.
