mass is the amount of space something takes up (also could be its weight (only when measuring solids)) density is how tightly the atoms of an object are packed together and volume is the thing you calculate to find a measurement of a liquid.

Density is Mass per unit volume. So the density of water is 1 gramme per cubic centimetre.
