Dear Friend,
the math i just learn about shape , but i can explore the answer for you .
The different between parallelogram and trapezoid is the parallelogram had 2 pair of parallel ,but trapezoid had 1 pair parallel. It different is it had different how many pair are they.
The Parallelogram and trapezoid are the same because it also a parallel line in there shape

A parallelogram has 2 pairs of parallel sides, 2 equal diagonals, 2 equal obtuse angles and 2 equal acute angles
A trapezoid has only 1 pair of parallel sides with the diagonals and angles of various sizes
Whereas an isosceles trapezoid has still only1 pair of parallel sides but with equal length diagonals and 2 equal obtuse angles as well as 2 equal acute angles
A triangle is not a quadrilateral, but a parallelogram and trapezoid are.
They are both 4 sided quadrilaterals but a trapezoid has only 1 pair of parallel line of different lengths whereas a parallelogram has 2 pairs of parallel lines
They are both quadrilaterals because they have 4 sides
A parallelogram has two pairs of sides that are parallel when a trapezoid only has one. A parallelogram's opposite sides are congruent and opposite angles are congruent. A trapezoid has no opposite congruent sides or angles, unless it's an isosceles trapezoid, which base angles are congruent. They both have four sides and four interior angles that add up to 360 degrees.
A parallelogram has 2 pairs of parallel sides whereas a trapezoid has only 1 pair of parallel sides
The difference between a trapezoid and a parallelogram is very simple: A trapezoid has exactly one pair of parallel sides and a parallelogram has exactly two pairs of parallel sides.
A parallelogram has two pairs of parallel sides, a trapezoid has only one.
A triangle is not a quadrilateral, but a parallelogram and trapezoid are.
http://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/Rectangles/Different-between-parallelogram-rectangle-square-rhombus-and-trapezoid.lesson That site says, "A quadrangle which has only one of the two opposite sides as parallel is called a Trapezoid. The other opposite sides need not be parallel. If both pair of opposite sides of a trapezoid are parallel then it becomes a parallelogram. The trapezoid does not follow the basic properties of a parallelogram."
Parallelogram: 2 pairs of parallel lines Trapezoid: 1 pair of parallel lines
The main difference between a parallelogram and a trapezoid is the number of parallel sides they have: Parallelogram: A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides. Opposite sides are also equal in length, and opposite angles are equal in measure. Rectangles, rhombuses, and squares are all special types of parallelograms. Trapezoid: A quadrilateral with one pair of parallel sides. The other pair of sides are not parallel. In North American English, it's called a trapezoid, while in British English, it's called a trapezium.
A parallelogram has two sets of sides that are parallel to each other. A trapezoid only has one set of sides that are parallel.
A trapezium has only one pair of parallel sides. A parallelogram has two pair of parallel sides. A rhombus is an equilateral parallelogram - that is, a parallelogram with equal sides.
