Matthew 7 but what verse
The 900 year old people in the bible represent those who lived before the flood as seen in Genesis 6. Is this literal years or symbolic? They are literal. The bible says in Genesis 1:6-7, 6 Then God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." 7 Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so (Cf 2 Peter 3:5). The earth then was suspended between waters underneath and a layer of water over the sky. This created a perfect pressure, oxygen-rich atmosphere, where this layer also protected against harmful radiation. It was the perfect environment from life and growth and men as a result lived many hundreds of years. Also, since death came into the world when Adam sinned, while this was immediate, its consequences took much time to take effect. It was after the flood that the above layer was removed that we see men beginning to die younger and younger.
Some accounts of surrounding events and birth are found at: (Matthew 1:18 - 2:23).....................specifically:Matthew 1:25-2:1 (Luke 1:26-35) (Luke 2:1-21)..........specifically: Luke 2:6-7 *Micah 5:2 prophesied about where Messiah was to be born (John 7:42) *Isaiah 7:14 prophesied that he would be 'Born of a virgin' (Luke 1:30-35) *Genesis 49:10 prophesied he would be born of the tribe of Judah(Hebrews 7:14)
Proverbs 2:7 .....(chapter 2, verse 7) is one. Psalms 7: 8 is another one.
The firmament is as imaginary as the Garden of Eden. Consider the evidence: Genesis 1:7 says that the firmament divided the waters above from the waters below. Genesis 1:14-17 says that God set the sun, moon and stars in this firmament, just above the earth. We know that neither of these descriptions is true - there is no water above, because the rain originates in evaporation from the ocean; the sun, moon and stars are far distant from the earth. If we did believe that the sun was set in the firmament, as the ancients believed, then of course the firmament would not filter its light.

Since the early centuries of the Common Era, tradition has held that Genesis 1:1 says "In the beginning God created heaven and earth." But as long ago as the eleventh century CE, the influential Jewish scholar, Rashi, said that Genesis 1:1 should really be read, "When God began to create" or "In the beginning of God's creation ". E.A. Speiser, in Genesis (Anchor Bible series), goes further and translates the sentence as: "When God set about to create heaven and earth - the world being a formless waste, with darkness over the seas... God said, 'Let there be light.' And there was light." The creation account in Genesis 1:1 to 2:4a ( up to first sentence of 2:4) says there was a pre-existing watery chaos. The ocean was already present and a wind (poetically, the spirit of God) moved across the surface of the waters. So the atmosphere was also present. The firmament was an imaginary dome that separated the waters above from the waters below (Genesis 1:7), created on day 2.For more information, please visit: http://christianity.answers.com/theology/the-story-of-creation

The Bible makes it clear that God made the universe as evidenced by the following: Genesis 1:16 (King James Version)16And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.Genesis 2:1-4 (King James Version)Genesis 21Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.3And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.4These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,The following verse makes it clearest of all:Exodus 20:11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it
