Millimeters, inches, light-years, miles, it's all the same: Measure all four sides and add their lengths together. That's what "perimeter" means.

For some figures there really is a formula. For example, since a square or a rhombus has all four sides the same length, you can just measure one of them and multiply by 4. But the sides of a trapezoid (not "TARPezoid") don't have any particular relationship in terms of length.
