Remember in

1m = 100 cm

Hence

1m x 1m = 1 m^2 = > 100 cm X 100 cm = 10000 cm^2

So in one square metre there are ten thousand square centimetres.

So to calculate m^2 to cm^2 , multiply by 10,000

e.g. 2 m^2 = 20,000 cm^2

Conversely to calculate cm^2 to m^2 divide by 10,000

e.g. 30,000 cm^2 = 3 m^2
