An event is a collection of results or outcomes from some procedure or experiment.
For example, if I toss a coin twice, {h, t} is an event.
If an event cannot be broken down into smaller or simpler components, it is called a simple event. For example, the event of 2 heads and one tail is not a simple event.
It can be hht, hth etc. Each of those, however, is a simple event.
The sample space is made up of all possible simple events.
