Using a line of known length and measuring the angle from each end of that line to another point you can calculate where that point is, in terms of distance, from the end points of that line.

Why would you want to do that? I have no idea!!!!! I have to learn that now and it is so pointless!

In surveying a piece of land, you'll be able to [fairly] accurately measure distances all from two points and not have to go trapsing over lots and lots of the land to measure it; sometimes it may not be possible to easily directly do such measuring, for example mapping a lake and the distance across it to an island in it.

You may not like angles, but they make the job of a surveyor much easier. At school, different subjects and areas of subjects are taught so that you can gauge what you're good at and so be guided into a career that will be enjoyable and doable.

Using angles (especially measured in radians, along with complex numbers) makes some calculations much easier for electronic engineers; angles affect loads which would be important for architects.

There are lots of uses of angles which may not be obvious at first.
