∙ 7y agoThe answer depends on the extent of rounding used for 1000. It is always a problem with integers ending in zero(s). You do not (cannot) know whether the number is 1000 to the nearest thousand (range = 500 to 1500), or to the nearest 100 (950 to 1050), nearest 10 (995 to 1005) or unit (999.5 to 1000.5)
If the number is 1000 to the nearest thousand, the answer could be anything between 1.785 and 5.355. So the answer should be given as "3.57 with a range of 1.785 to 5.355".
If the number is 1000 to the nearest hundred, the answer should be given as "3.57 with a range of 3.3915 to 3.7485".
If the number is 1000 to the nearest ten, the answer should be given as "3.6 to two sf".
If the number is 1000 to the nearest ten or unit, the answer is 3.57
