A sphere is ball-shaped and has the same dimension in all directions, so a nickel can't be a sphere.

However it's technically not a circle, either, because a circle is a 2-dimensional object while coins are 3-dimensional. While its cross-section is a circle, a nickel is actually a cylinder.
