By finding the lowest common multiple of the denominators.

∙ 7y agoYou don't normally calculate the lcd of a single number (fraction). You would normally take the lcd of two or more fractions. In that case, ONLY the denominators are relevant to find the lcd.
It is not possible to give a sensible answer to this question. The least common denominator (LCD) refers to a multiple that is COMMON to two or more numbers. You refer to only one number in the question!
By finding the lowest common multiple of the fractions with different denomiators that need to be added or subtracted
The LCD of 1/4 and 1/6 is 12
375To find the Least Common Denominator (LCD) of 15 and 125 you could make a list of their multiples until you find a number common to both lists:15: 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 135, ....125: 125, 250, ...This method can sometimes be tedious. A more 'scientific method is to find the prime factorization of each number|15 = 3x5125 = 5x25 = 5x5x5The LCD has to have enough factors in it to make each of the numbers. There has to be 1 three and 3 fives.LCD = 3x5x5x5 = 3x125 = 375.
subtract? Find a common denominator (LCD is preferred). Convert each fraction to an equivalent fraction with the LCD. Add numerators, keep LCD as new denominator. Reduce the fraction.

For the first fraction, divide the give denominator into the LCD, take that result and multiply by the given numerator to create a new numerator for the LCD. Repeat for each fraction.
