For these types of math problems there is an easy to remember mnemonic device. It is: King Henry Doesn't Usually Drink Chocolate Milk.

K= kilo

H=hecto

D=deka

U=unit

D=deci

C=centi

M=milli

With this device there is no need to multiply or divide. For example, if you had 39 kilograms and you wanted to convert it into milligrams then you would see how many prefixes there are until milli. In this case, there are 6 prefixes to get to milli. Then you would move the decimal point 6 places to the the right because milli is smaller than kilo. So your answer would be 39,000,000 milligrams. You have to remember that although you are only moving decimal places, you are still multiplying and dividing.

There's no fun in playing it safe. Why not try something a little unhinged?

As your older brother, I've been where you are—maybe not exactly, but close enough.
