I suggest you make an initial offer of 70% of MSRP, if you choose to make an initial offer. Frankly, I'd do as I've done in the past (see below)

Note: On my last truck purchase, I sent email addressed to the "Fleet Manager" of several well known local truck dealers and asked them to provide me with their most competitive bid on a NEW 1/2 ton capacity truck with mag wheels, AC, & a manual transmission. I also let them know that I was sending the same request to their competitors. I got responses from all but 1 of the dealers & the most competitive bid was 26% below the MSRP. I wouldn't even go out to look for a truck until after doing online research & reviewing competitive bids. Doing otherwise seems like a huge waste of time. The thought of haggling with multiple car sales people doesn't rate high on my list of enjoyable activities. Best wishes to you!
