When it comes to percentage calculations I prefer coherent approach based on the answer of the 'fundamental' percentage question: "How much is one percent?"

Once you have the value of one percent, you can use the result to calculate what you want to know.

In this case 100% = 22. One percent is 0.22 then. 0.22 goes to 20.75 about 94.32 times. The result is 94.32%.

Another example: if 15 seconds are 40% of some time interval, how many seconds are 46% of this interval?

One percent is 15/40=0,375 seconds. 46% is then 46 times 0,375 seconds, i.e. 17.25 seconds.

That was the way how I explained these calculations to my daughter and she still remembers :-)
