In general these "cash for coins" machines are not good deals unless you can convert the coins to a gift card for a place you plan to shop anyway. Some banks will charge far less than 8%, and a small number will count coins for free even if you're not a depositor.

If you have a large amount of coins to cash in, it may be worth your time to look around. You have to make the decision whether it's worth paying a machine 8 or 10 cents to count every dollar of your change.
