No body knows. 'pi' = 3.141592.... has been known since pre-Classical times; The Sumerian Empire. For convenience of school calculations pi = 3.14 is only an approximation. For finer, more exact work ,in science and technology pi = 3.1416 , but it is still only an approximation. 'pi' is an IRRATIONAL number, which casually means that the decimals go to infinity and there is no regular order in the decimal digits. It cannot be converted into a RATIO(fraction). Super Duper compouters have calculated 'pi; to at least 50 billion places and still going. !!!!!! pi = 3.14 , 3.1416 . 3.141592 , 22/7 are only APPROXIMATIONS.
[pi^(1/3)]^2 * pi = pi^(2/3) * pi = pi^(5/3) The answer is the cubic root of pi to the fifth power.
(pi + pi + pi) = 3 pi = roughly 9.4248 (rounded) Well, if you use the common shortened version of pi which is 3.14 and add that 3 times, you get 9.42.
(cos(pi x) + sin(pi y) )^8 = 44 differentiate both sides with respect to x 8 ( cos(pi x) + sin (pi y ) )^7 d/dx ( cos(pi x) + sin (pi y) = 0 8 ( cos(pi x) + sin (pi y ) )^7 (-sin (pi x) pi + cos (pi y) pi dy/dx ) = 0 8 ( cos(pi x) + sin (pi y ) )^7 (pi cos(pi y) dy/dx - pi sin (pi x) ) = 0 cos(pi y) dy/dx - pi sin(pi x) = 0 cos(pi y) dy/dx = sin(pi x) dy/dx = sin (pi x) / cos(pi y)
i am trying to figure that out to for my science project PLEASE someone smart answer this question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hurry! >marrissa A = Pi * a * b where a & b are the semimajor(half of the long) and semiminor(half of the short) axis good luck on your science project
no, math
The motto of Alfa Kappa Pi is 'Health Science and Charity'.

Some industries that use pi are: Construction (building, bridge, etc. designers) Technologicial industries (machinery, airplane, etc. designers) Science Industries (Space science, for example) Pi is also used in education in that teachers teach students about pi and how it is used.
in science we trust, and all of our pi
in any job touching science or technology

It's a number - used in problems involving geometry.
An INFINITE number. Computers have calculated 'pi' to billions of places and still going. However for everyday school learning pi = 3.14 or pi = 22/7 . For more accurate calculations pi = 3.1416 . This is used in science, technology and engineering.
Absolutely! Although it does depend on what you consider to be science. Variables in sociology, economics, anthropology, linguistics etc are sometimes assumed to follow the Gaussian or Normal distribution. The formula for the distribution function includes pi.
The quote "Science can only take you so far and then you have to leap" is from Chapter 18 of the book "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel. It can be found on page 177 of the paperback edition.
