Another even number.

2x represents any even number (divisible by 2)

2y represents any other even number (again, divisible by 2)

2x + 2y = 2(x+y) It does not matter what x+y is, because it is multiplied by 2 so 2(x+y) is divisible by 2, therefore even.

What is it called when two numbers are added?

When adding numbers, the total is the sum. The sum of two odd numbers is even.

What results if an even number is added to the difference of two odd numbers?

Difference of two odd numbers is an even number. Adding an even number changes nothing.

What 2 even numbers added together to make the sum be odd?

The sum of two even number is always even. So there are no such numbers.

Why are even whole and natural numbers closed under addition?

For a set to be closed under an operation, doing the operations on any two members of the set must result in another member of the set.The set of even natural numbers is {2, 4, 6, ...}.When two even numbers are added, the result is also an even number.Adding two positive numbers results in a larger positive number. Thus, adding two even natural numbers together results in another even natural number and so is closed. The set of even whole numbers is {..., -6, -4, -2, 0, 2, 4, 6, ...}.When two even numbers are added, the result is also an even number. It does not matter which combination of positive and negative whole numbers are added as all positive and negative whole numbers (including zero) are in the set. Thus it is also closed under addition.

What 5 odd numbers equal 30 when added and you can use the odd numbers more than once?

There are no 5 odd numbers that when added together make 30.Two odd numbers added together make an even numberAn odd number plus and even number makes an odd number. From the five odd numbers:Take two of them and add them together getting an even number and four odd numbersAdd another of the odd numbers to this even number and you will have three odd numbersAdd two of these together and you will have one even and one odd number. Finally add these odd and even numbers together and the result will be an odd numberBut 30 is an even number, so cannot be the sum of five (or any odd number of) odd numbers.

That is not possible; adding two even numbers always gives an even number

If two even numbers are added the answer is always even?

That is correct.

What is the median of an even set of numbers?

it is the middle two numbers added together and then divided by two

What two prime numbers added together equals 97?

No two prime numbers added together have a sum of 97. All primes except the number 2 are odd numbers, and two odd numbers added together always produce an even sum.

What 2 even numbers added together to make the sum be odd?

The sum of two even number is always even. So there are no such numbers.

What are two odd numbers whose sum is odd?

There are none. Two odd numbers added together equal a even number.

Can 5 odd numbers make 50?

No. Two odd numbers added together always give an even number. Two even numbers added together always give an even number. An odd and an even number added together always give an odd number. So, if we have 5 odd numbers - a, b, c, d and e a + b will be even c + d will be even So if (a + b) + (c + d) is even, adding e to that will have to be an odd number - but 50 is even, so it cannot be done.

Why does an even number plus an odd number always equal an odd number?

For any even number n, the following integer is odd (n+1), so for any odd number other than 1, you are adding the preceding even number, plus 1. Because all even numbers are multiples of 2, their sum is even, and 1 more will be an odd number.---Think of the odd number as an even number plus one and remember that all even numbers are multiples of two.Therefore:- Any two even numbers added together will always be a multiple of two and therefore even. Any two odd numbers added together will be the same as adding two even numbers plus 1 plus 1. (A multiple of two plus two which is still a multiple of two).An odd number added to an even number will be the same as two even numbers plus 1 in other words a multiple of two (even) plus one making the result odd.Extrapolating further it's easy to see that by the above reasoning that for all positive integers...Any number of even numbers added together will always be even.An odd number of odd numbers added together will always be odd.Any even number of odd numbers added together will always be even,Adding any number of even numbers to any number of odd numbers will make no difference to the outcome, the odd or even outcome will still be determined by the number of odd numbers being added together.---Another approach:Let n, r be real numbers even number representation: 2nodd number representation: 2n + 1sum = 2n + 2n + 1 = 4n + 1 = 2(2n) + 1let 2n = rsum representation becomes: 2r + 1, which is a representation of an odd number.

Is it true that the sum of two prime numbers is always an even number?

Not quite. When two prime numbers of 3 and higher are added together, the result is always even, because all such prime numbers are odd numbers, and when two odd numbers are added together, the result is always an even number. However 2 is a prime number, and 2 is also an even number. Adding 2 (an even number) to a different prime number (an odd number) will always yield an odd number.Only if you don't include "2".
