Open radiator drain plug and let drain and on each side of the engine you should have a drain plug that you take out or it's a deal that's like whats on your radiator drain and open them and your block will drain, when all the water has drained you can hook up a garden hose and fill the system and start the car and turn the heater on too and then when the car warms up it will take the water into the engine and you can flush it all out and when you see just clear water running out of the radiator drain and engine drain shut the hose off and the engine and let it all drain again and then close all the drain plugs and fill the radiator with a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze and restart the engine and then fill the radiator as needed as the engine warms up it will take the mixture into the block, just make sure you use a 50/50 mixture to fill the system up.

The Merc's seem to perform better with NGK brand plugs installed. The 1974 model, 50 hp, good ol in-line 4, requires an NGK BUHW. If you go with a Champion brand plug, originally installed, use a L76V. Both plugs are perma-gap type, so no adjustment required.

on the drivers side at the bottom of the radiator and facing down is the drain cock.most are white and a plastic type material open it and let it drain. You may have to remove a shield that runs straight across the car to get to the drain..that's very simple take out 3 to 5 of the small bolts and push shield until u can see the drain..you do not have to remove all bolts in the shield to get to the drain just the ones on drivers side. now the fun part near your oil pan you will find a drain plug usally a hex depending upon the year model..remove it and let it drain. a simpilar way to just empty the radiator is on the passanger side.there near the bottom you will see a hose that runs to the radiator u can remove the hose clip and let it drain..but i recommened you use the drain cock. be sure to do this when car is cold and rember to re-install drain plug and drain cock. fill with water let it run for 10 to 20 minutes. let car cool down open radiator drain and let out the plain water. now you can refil with your 50/50 mixture. p.s. if you could not get drain plugs open just repeat plain water procedure 2 to 3 times before you add your mixture.
