It will fit on the frame but the action will not function with 3 inch shells.
Your best bet - would be to take it to an antiques dealer or a weapons collector.
To calculate barrels per inch, you need to know the volume of the barrel in gallons and the dimensions of the barrel in inches. First, convert the barrel volume to cubic inches (1 barrel = 31.5 gallons = 3,785.41 cubic inches). Then, divide the total volume of the barrel by the height of the barrel in inches. The formula is: Barrels per inch = (Volume of the barrel in cubic inches) / (Height of the barrel in inches).
1-7 barrel tw = -6
There are not any apples in the barrel of grapes! It's a barrel of grapes! How could there be apples in there?!!

It would help if you could tell me which "golden Marlin" model you have? Also condition, features, etc. Marlin made several guns with "Golden" on the barrel, but there should also be a model designation somewhere.
I just turned 60 years old (Oct. 2007). I bought a used marlin golden 39-A mountie serial # R 196XX. It could not have been more than ten years old? Very accurate and it came with a Lyman peep sight as well as iron sights. 16 Micro Grove barrel. One of my best and favourite guns. Lots of memories. A most beautiful gun. The year of manufacture for S = 1958-1959.
These rifles are loaded through the tubular magazine under the barrel, by twisting the magazine cap to unlock it, withdrawing it until the loading port is clear, and inserting catridges into the port. The link below is to the owner's manual for the 39A- click on that link, and you can download the manual.
No. Also, Marlin does not sell the barrel for the 882 as a component part. The Model 17 barrel can be installed, but again finding the barrel is a problem. The existing barrel can be relined to .17HMR. sales@countrygunsmith.net
