Sand.

Density is mass / volume. So a higher volume will equal a lower density. Clearly a Kg of feathers will (normally) take up more volume than a Kg of sand therefore the feathers are less dense.

You could think of it this way: density is measuring how close together the atoms in a substance are. When the atoms are closer together they take up less volume and the substance is more dense.

If you put a Kg of feathers in a box, the feathers would not all join together perfectly meaning that there would be gaps between feathers and therefore the volume taken up by the feathers is greater. You could prove this by trying to push your hand through the feathers. You would be pushing through partly air (which is a mixture of gases and the atoms in a gas are further apart than in a solid) so the task would be easier. It is like comparing pushing your hand through a solid and pushing your hand through solids separated by gas. The latter is easier because there is some "room" for the atoms in the solid to move in to and thus for the feathers to move out of the way of your hand.

Why does a kilogram of sand takes up much less space than a kilogram?

A kilogram of sand takes up less space than a kilogram of air, because sand is more dense than air. A kilogram of sand takes up more space than a kilogram of gold, because sand is less dense than gold.

What is the difference between 1 pound of feathers and 1 pound of sand?

The difference is in their density. While both weigh the same (1 pound), feathers take up more space due to their low density, while sand is more compact due to its higher density.

Why does a kilogram of sand take up less space than a kilogram of feathers?

because sand is smaller than feathers and it would take up as much space with the sand , and if the feathers were there it would take up more space because its and larger object than the sand .

Which is more denser one kg cottan or one kg sand?

One kilogram of sand is denser than one kilogram of cotton. This is because sand particles are more tightly packed together, leading to higher density compared to the looser, fluffier structure of cotton.

How do you convert milligram per liter to milligram per Kilogram of sand?

To convert milligrams per liter (mg/L) to milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) for sand, you need to know the density of sand to account for the volume change. Once you have the density, you can multiply the mg/L value by 1000 (since 1 liter of water is approximately 1 kilogram) and divide by the density of sand to get the mg/kg value.

Why does a kilogram of bricks take up a much smaller space than a kilogram of feathers?

Sand is denser than feathers. Since a given volume of a denser material has more mass than the same volume of a less dense material, when you make the masses the same, the volumes must vary.

What weighs more sand or sugar?

Sand typically weighs more than sugar due to its higher density. Density is a measure of how much mass is contained in a given volume, so materials with higher density will weigh more than those with lower density. Sand is made up of larger, heavier particles compared to the finer, lighter particles of sugar, resulting in sand being heavier.

How much is 1 kilogram of sand?

1 kg is still 1 kg no matter what the substance is. a kilogram weighs 2.2 lbs brewski

Why does compacted sand have a greater density than loose sand poured into a container What does this mean?

In compacted sand the grains of sand are closer together, meaning there are more grains in a certain volume. This gives a higher value for density.

Which is heavier a kilogram of sand or a kilogram of marbles?

A kilogram is a kilogram, no matter what.

What object is 1 kilogram?

That's not actually a real math question.because any object could be 1kilogram.. You can have 1kilogram of feathers.1kilogram of rocks.1kilogram of sand etc

Why does a kilogram of sand take up less space then a kilogram of feathers?

i dont know if this is correct butt, i think mass, because , mass is considered as matter half the time, and a feathers kilograms take up less space than sands. this is because of the width of the object or substance? no promises but i think this is rightt <333
